Keith Cook

Violinist Keith Cook has played professionally for several years with orchestras including the Lake Harriet Pops, the St. Paul Opera, the Atlanta Symphony, the Louisville Orchestra, the Summer Opera Theater of Washington, D.C., and various free-lance orchestras. He received his degree in music education from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Millard Taylor and William Kroll. He has also studied with Jens Ellerman in Cincinnati and Zvi Zeitlin at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA. Cook received his Master’s degree from the University of Louisville in the academic field of Social/Behavioral Studies and Elementary Education. He was a classroom teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools where he integrated music into the standard curriculum. He founded the West Louisville Talent Education Center as a way to help students solve behavioral and academic problems by learning to play the violin. Cook is the author of Sight Reading Violin Music, a Guide for the Non-Beginner, a collection of etudes entitled, Solving Ledger Lines, and a scale method entitled Violin Scales and Positions. He has taught violin at Hochstein Music School in Rochester, NY, at the University of Minnesota, and the University of Louisville. He has directed the Young Strings Program of ArtsReach at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, and started a full orchestra program at West End School. His work at West Louisville Talent Education Center (The Blue House) continues with the regular Studio/Suzuki after-school programs, and an exciting new program, BASIC Blue, which will be modeled after the Suzuki Kindergarten program in Matsumoto.

Kor’ee Jackson

Grew up in West Louisville, the very neighborhood served by the blue house. His interest in music peaked in high school when he studied orchestra. with another graduate of the Blue House program, Cordia Thompkins. Ms. Thompkins encouraged him to take private lessons at the Blue House also with Mr. Cook. After high school, Mr. Jackson attended Eastern Kentucky University where he received both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees. he went on to teach at Fayette County public schools and jcps. He was also a studio teacher and works at both the Louisville Academy of Music and the Blue House. Mr. Jackson frequently performs in and around the Louisville/Lexington region. he plays jazz, classical, and everything in between.
